Hi! I hope you find these pages helpful and information. My current job at Wissahickon includes itinerant gifted support of the 11th and 12th graders. This includes co-teaching 11th grade AP Language and Composition, pushing in for classes in AP Lit, help with college applications, science writing, graduation projects, course selection, alternate coursework, letters of recommendation, or anything else you need or want help with.
WHS Gifted Support Program
The Wissahickon School District Gifted Support program for the high school grades (9-12) is designed to markedly increase academic rigor for the students while supporting them in the development of skills to handle the expected work process and product.
For eleventh-and-twelfth grade students, itinerant support is available to assist students in achieving their annual goal, to foster their advanced education in and out of the classroom while at WHS, and to prepare them for their years beyond high school.
Eligibility for the Gifted Support Program
The term “mentally gifted” includes a person who has an IQ of 130 or higher, when multiple criteria as set forth in Department Guidelines indicate gifted ability. Determination of gifted ability will not be based on IQ score alone. The determination shall include an assessment by a certified school psychologist. (22 Pa. Code §16.21(d))
No one test or measure is sufficient to determine giftedness, and the evaluation and testing literature recognizes that there is a margin for error in any standardized testing. The standard error of measurement also applies when reporting IQ.
Referral Process for the Gifted Support Program
A student who is suspected to qualify for gifted services is referred for gifted screening by their general education teacher and/or by their parent. Request for screening should be made to your building principal.

Biography
After a BA in French and Russian, I finished a Master's in Applied Linguistics so that I could travel and teach. I have taught all levels of English from Kindergarten through CEOs in four countries. I have a passion for language learning and teaching and continually look for countries to visit where I can practice my own foreign language skills. The love of my life is from the Netherlands, where I lived for 10 years and had two fabulous sons, who further grew up in Jenkintown and are now studying in college. When I'm not reading student work, I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction, talking with friends and family - and especially dancing my heart out at Zumba class.
